This week’s blog was written by Amicus Support Worker Jaiden Kellow. He and participant Peter Brewer enjoyed a weekend away in Melbourne recently.
On the 4th of May, Peter Brewer and myself went on a trip for the weekend to Melbourne, which we have done on this weekend for the past two years.
We caught the train down to Melbourne and then visited the Sea Life Aquarium where we had a great time reading about different life in the ocean. Peter loved watching the fish swim around! He was a bit nervous about the sharks, but once I reassured him how thick the glass was, he loved looking at them.
That night we had plans to go to the football to watch Richmond vs Bulldogs, but due to a large crowd, lots of noise and a bitter night, Peter said he just wanted to walk around the CBD and listen to it on the radio. After a fun night of walking around, eating lollies and indulging in some Krispy Kreme doughnuts Peter wanted to call it quits and head back to the hotel to have a sleep.
Peter was awake at the crack of dawn and excited to get the day started. We hired a locker for our bags and got walking to the Queen Vic Market, where (after several hours without a coffee) Peter found the one thing he has been looking to buy for so long, a touch screen watch! Peter wanted it so badly he was jumping up and down with excitement as I bartered with the salesman and we got him a great deal. Peter was so happy with his purchase he gave me a hug and asked me to set it up straight away.
We spent the rest of the morning browsing for bargains and Peter managed to score himself lots of great deals. As time rolled on Peter became more excited to get home to show his fancy new watch off to his house staff and friends living at the house.
Peter had a great weekend and has already started planning a holiday for next year.
