NAIDOC Week runs from Sunday 8 November to Sunday 15 November. This year’s theme is ‘Always Was, Always Will Be.’
Always Was, Always Will Be. recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years.
NAIDOC 2020 invites all Australians to embrace the true history of this country – a history which dates back thousands of generations.
It’s about seeing, hearing and learning the First Nations’ 65,000+ year history of this country – which is Australian history. We want all Australians to celebrate that we have the oldest continuing cultures on the planet and to recognise that our sovereignty was never ceded.

Bendigo City Council: Flag Raising Ceremony – Monday 9th November
This digital event included Dja Dja Wurrung Welome to Country and Smoking Ceremony. Launch of the New 2021-2025 City of Greater Bendigo Reconciliation Action Plan.

Access Australia Group: NAIDOC Open Day at Peppergreen Farm – Monday 9th November
Access Australia Group (AAG) invited the community to come and visit our Peppergreen Farm. The open day included a tour of PepperGreen Farm’s beautiful garden, an afternoon tea, introduction to AAG’s suite of programs on offer to the community, along with a traditional Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony provided by Dja Dja Wurrung.

The Piinpi; Contemporary Indigenous Fashion exhibition curated by First Nations Curator Shonae Hobson brings together a selection of seventy designers, artists and makers to showcase the first major survey of Indigenous Australian fashion. Including works from Tashara Roberts, Aunty Marilyn Nicholls and Rodney Carter, the exhibition is set to open on the 17th of October at Bendigo Art Gallery.

The Talking First Nations panel event online (via live streaming) with Shonae and Tashara facilitating will include guest Designers and Artists from the exhibition such as Lyn-Al Young, Lisa Waup, and Arkie Barton. The evening event will focus on First Nations Fashion Design Director Grace Lillian Le and Manager Teagan Cowlishaw whose works also features in the exhibition.
